PICNIC OF THE CHILDREN AND PARENTS OF CATECHISM

Last Sunday, April 29 we had in our Parish St. Juliana of West Palm Beach a picnic for the parents and children of catechism. Our plans were to go to a park across the street from the Parish, but the weather was very bad, windy and rainy. Some of the parents who were helping with the picnic did not lose their optimism and finally we decided to have it in the parish hall. A group of adults and children helped to set everything for the games. Meanwhile a group of man  were in the kitchen cooking hamburgers and hot dogs. Before lunch we had the games for all ages. For married couples the dance with the broom, we laughed so much. Then the rope with two groups one on either side. When the little ones were pulling the rope very soon their older brothers and fathers jumped in to help them. Then we continue this game with different groups, even between the women of the parish and the men.  Unbelievable the women won,we do not know whether it was because their husbands allowed them, or because they are really strong.

We were  more than 400 people, and we had enough food  for all. The last game was the piñata and the little ones enjoyed themselves very much. Many got candies others did not, but all were happy. We thank the Lord for this wonderful day. The bad weather instead of being an  obstacle was a help, we did more things in the hall than we would have been able to do in the park. What is left for this year of catechesis are  the Baptisms, First Communions and Confirmation. We hope that little by little through all these activities and with the reception of the Sacraments we will build the parish community. Regina.
